Arm and Side Chair Building Process Part 1 by Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers

Arm and Side Chair Building Process Part 1 by Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers Making a set of Arm and Side Chairs Part 1 of 2 by Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers. We made a set of 8 chairs, 2 Arm and 6 side chairs. These chairs are made of solid mahogany, with carved and shaped posts and back splats with a shell carved Crest Rail. Part 2 will show carving the ball and claw feet, the rail mortise and tenon joinery with through wedged tenons and making the arms on the 2 Arm Chairs.
These chairs are based on an original chair by Eliphalet Chapin of Connecticut. We measured an original example at Yale University Art Gallery.
