Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Secretariat has started functioning from April 21 with limited staff by adhering to the State directive during lockdown period.

On Wednesday witnessed the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Executive Members (EM) and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) attending office. Principal Secretary alongwith Secretaries and other staff were also present with thin attendance to avoid crowd.


Visitors without valid reasons were barred from visiting the KAAC Secretariat. Any visitor entering the Secretariat is check for temperature with electronic Thermometer and provided with hand senitizers to rub both hands.

Though the Secretariat is keeping functioning, but no development works can be done, except those schemes in rural areas with permission from Deputy Commissioner.


Principal Secretary, KAAC, Sanjeev Kumar Das told media persons , “On last Monday we have held a meeting with secretaries, joint secretaries, deputy secretaries, under secretaries and engineers of Works department to discuss  the functioning of KAAC Secretariat from April 21 by following directives of State government during lockdown period.


We are following the dos and don’ts in office to contain spread of Covid-19 in office. Door mates, doors and windows and furniture are sanitized and staff is asked to maintain social distance during work hours.”

“Any visitor entering inside temperature of the person is check with electronic Thermometer. Hand senitizer is provided to rub both hands.


In order to minimize large number of people we have restricted non essential visitors. We are doing this for maintaining social distancing. Regular washing of hands with soap or rubbing of both hands with senitizers and wearing of mask to cover mouth and nose and avoiding of touching of hands of another person were informed to staff to strictly follow,” Das informed.

He informed that 33 percent attendance is maintained to avoid crowding.


“Meetings with Chief Executive Member (CEM), Kari Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) we are allowing only one department at a time to maintain social distancing.


During Covid-19 outbreak and national lockdown period we are keeping the Secretariat function. No important development works are being taken up as the Deputy Commissioner (DC), who is also the district magistrate is seeing the whole management. The DC only gives permission which department is essential to function and which are not.

But certain development works in rural areas have started with permission from DC, Das told.
