Pastor charged with breaching ban on social gathering, Jamaica news today A pastor has been charged with breaching the social gathering ban which was imposed as part of measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Cynthia Williams, 54, of a Gregory Park address in St. Catherine, was arrested on Sunday by the Portmore Operational Support Team.

It is reported that the police were summoned to the area about 9:15 a.m.

Checks revealed that a church service was in progress at the pastor's house with more than 50 persons in attendance.

Ms Williams is scheduled to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court on July 28.

The police are reminding persons that no more than 10 persons are permitted to gather.

Those who breach the Disaster Risk Management Order could be fined up to $1 million or imprisonment for up to one year.
