In this video I build and test three 3.5 kg setups to test at Falcon Lake. In the process I get a Unique Oregon Redband Trout and a Unique Rainbow Trout. Even when building my setups like this I don’t use them on max drag settings all the time. But when I catch a fish that is pulling away, I can turn on the “max drag” and take control. Most important part is not to reel when the fish is pulling.
WARNING: This doesn’t work in “The Fisherman”, it only works in “Fishing Planet”. Also, if I get stuck fighting a fish at around 10 meters and I can’t get it any closer after a while, it means that my setup is simply too weak to reel out the fish I hooked. I have to lose the fish if I can or restart the game to get rid of it.
SIDE NOTE: Although the strain on the setup is in the red at max drag settings, the damage is really based more on the fight duration and not so much on the actual strain to the setup. So the faster I reel the fish out, the less damage I get on my setup.
CAUTION: Using a setup that is too weak for the spot and the fish I am targeting is not a good idea. I still need to have an appropriate setup for the situation. For instance, I can use 9 kg feeder setups for Blue Catfish and Sturgeon at St. Croix Lake, Michigan (see end of the video). It is possible to reel out even the Unique Blue Cats but it takes way too long to do it and the setups take a beating like this. This means lost time in long fights, less fish and more credits for maintenance and repair.
0:43 – Explaining general idea and how it works
3:48 – Starting with line choice and building setups around it. I make a float, bottom and lure fishing setup.
5:43 – Getting all setups in the water at “Bridge Of Logs”
7:18 – Unique Oregon Redband Trout on 150 cm leader.
8:52 – Switching to night time at “Trout Lair” and getting the setups in the water
10:52 – Solid fight with a Trophy Rainbow Trout on the bottom setup.
12:35 - Unique Rainbow Trout. Unfortunately it bugged and didn’t give me much fight. Happens sometimes. I was hoping for longer fight here but the good news is the old spot still works.
13:26 – Fish keeper and some last words
13:54 – a 9 kg feeder setup I tested on Blue Catfish and Sturgeon at St Croix Lake, Michigan.
14:12 – Long fight with Unique Blue Catfish with 9 kg Feeder setup. Like I said, I don’t lose line to the fish when not reeling regardless of fish size.
