This beautiful bird is a Lesson's Motmot (Momotus lessonii) or the blue-diademed motmot. I just love watching these exquisitely colored birds as they go about hunting insects on our farm. They sit motionless in a tree looking for prey then dive and grab them before returning to the tree to leisurely dine on the meal. Despite the beautiful colors, they can blend into the rain-forest flora where they are almost invisible as they sit waiting on prey.
