Shaun Bailey has warned that London could see a “summer of crime” if police cannot get illegal street parties under control. Speaking with talkRADIO’s Julia Hartley-Brewer, the Conservative candidate for London Mayor called on current mayor Sadiq Khan to give more backing to the police.
“I don’t think it’s useful for everyone to say to the police what a mess of the job they’ve made because they’re doing as they’re asked. It’s about the leadership of the police, who is the mayor, who is not doing anything at all.”
His comments follow a second consecutive night of clashes between police and revellers at an unlicensed music event in Notting Hill last night.
