Prime Time: Ravish Kumar On Difference In COVID-19 Recovery Rates In States | May 28, 2020 On Prime Time, Ravish Kumar asks why there is a stark difference in recovery rates of coronavirus patients in different states. The revised discharge policy for COVID-19 cases announced by the health ministry in consultation with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that moderate cases of COVID-19 and pre-symptomatic, mild and very mild cases need not be tested before being discharged after resolving the symptoms. Dr Matthew Varghese, orthopaedist at St. Stephen's Hospital in New Delhi, says that discharging patients with mild cases will enable hospitals to free up beds for serious cases. However, he adds that the policy change is "not ideal" as the poor may not be able to comply with quarantine rules after being sent home. (Audio in Hindi)
