How to use the Spot Healing Brush for Photographs in Photoshop In this video you will learn how to use the spot healing brush tool by creating a new layer. By creating a new layer you don't edit directly on your original photograph which makes editing easier.

The spot healing brush tool is located in your tools panel. If you are unable to locate the brush in the tools panel, simply use the search feature in Photoshop and the brush tool will pop up. It will also show you the shortcut key for that specific tool.

The spot healing brush tool is a helpful tool to remove small objects and debris that may be impacting the quality of your photograph.
In this example, I do not change the hardness or spacing of the brush. If you decrease the hardness you will have a more feathered edge. Increasing the hardness will give you a sharper edge.

When using the spot healing brush tool, it's important to make sure the content-aware and sample all layers are selected. Sample all layers allows Photoshop to look through active layers, not just the layer you are working on.

A helpful shortcut when using any brush tool in Photoshop is the ability to increase or decrease your brush size using the bracket keys on your keyboard. [ ]
