Dr. Anthony Fauci: Remdesivir Is ‘A Very Important First Step’ In Fighting Coronavirus | TODAY

Dr. Anthony Fauci tells TODAY that the antiviral drug remdesivir is “the first step in what we project will be better and better drugs coming along” to treat COVID-19, but cautions, “This is not the total answer.” He expects the FDA to approve the drug “very quickly” and says that Gilead Sciences is “committed to getting it out as much as they can, as quickly as they can.” He also says he feels “cautiously optimistic” that states can start reopening if they have contact tracing capability.
