Sweden is taking an entirely different approach to combating COVID-19. Social distancing is encouraged, but it's not enforced. In fact Sweden doesn't look that different than it did before the pandemic. Their herd immunity plan is a risky one, but the government believes it will save lives rather than take them. But its critics don't agree: Sweden's death toll per capita might be lower than the hardest hit European nations, but compared to its nordic neighbours, the country is a lot worse off. So, is Stockholm's strategy worth the risk? We ask Anders Tegnell, the doctor responsible for Sweden's controversial strategy. Plus, we delve into the broader impact of the pandemic on globalization, neoliberalism and personal freedoms with two theorists.
