"TAHI" TO EMPHASISE TOGETHERNESS
In this lesson we are looking at how to use "tahi" to describe "togetherness" of an action.
In practice, we can put "tahi" after the verb in our sentences from this video - , to create a sense of togetherness in the action. For example:
Kei te haere tātou = We are all going
Kei te haere TAHI tātou = We are all going TOGETHER
Kei te kai tāua = We are eating
Kei te kai TAHI tāua = We are eating TOGETHER
Another example from the video is the use of "me" which can be used to mean "should"...as in "we should eat" versus "we are eating" (which you would use "kei te")...I'll do another video on that one day :D
Me kai tātou = We should eat
Me kai tahi tātou = We should eat together
Remember this photo??? -
Me haere tātou = We should go/Let's go
Me haere TAHI tātou = We should go together/as one!
HOW TO USE THIS IN PRACTICE
Step 1. Go back to this video -
Step 2. Drop "tahi" in after the verbs
Step 3. Start forming some new sentences
GUESS WHAT?????
In that video we had 120 sentences from just 17 words....
Now you have essentially DOUBLED that to 240 sentences with just ONE more word. Now, not every sentence will make exact sense, but the logic still applies.
DON'T FORGET....
You need at least TWO people to ensure this makes sense :D
